Secret to prevent chapped lips revealed!

Now some of you right now might ask, "How can I get rid of chapped lips?" and I have some simple tips.

Tip 1.  Drink more water.

Chapped lips are a very common problem when the weather turns cold and nasty. Find out how to protect and treat your lips so that they stay soft and moist all year round!
One common cause of chapped lips is dehydration. If you haven't been drinking enough water, your lips are more likely to dry out and crack. Drinking water not only temporarily soothes your chapped lips, but it also heals them over time. Drink plenty of fluids each day so that your lips will stay hydrated and chap less often.

Tip 2. Don't lick your lips.
If your lips feel a little dry, don't try to wet them using your tongue. While it provides temporary relief, licking your lips only serves to dehydrate them even more. The repeated exposure to wet and dry conditions will lead to extremely chapped lips. Keep that tongue in your mouth!

Tip 3. Balance the body's pH level.
If your diet doesn't exactly conform to the food pyramid, then that could be contributing to your chapped lips. Your blood's pH value may be acidic if you aren't eating proper portions of food, and that can cause chapped lips. Try adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet and see if you notice a difference!

Tip 4. Exfoliate using sugar.

If your lips are chapped, you need to get rid of the cracked top layer before they can start healing. Sugar is a natural and effective exfoliant that will clean your lips and make them softer. Simply put a pinch of sugar in your palm, soak the fingertips of your other hand, and mix the sugar until it is a paste. Apply the mixture to your lips in small, circular motions.

Tip 5. Apply lip balm.

While lip balm isn't a complete cure-all solution, it can help to prevent and treat chapped lips. These medicated ointments come in gel or stick form, and certain brands are better than others. Try Beecology Natual Lip Balm or Blistex Lip Medex for the best results.

Tip 6. Breathe through the nose, not through the mouth.

One big reason why cold weather causes chapped lips is because we tend to breathe through our mouths instead of our noses. The cold air doesn't feel good in the nose, so people tend to automatically switch to the mouth. This draws air over the lips and causes them to dry out even faster. Consciously try to breathe through your nose to reduce chapping.

Tip 7. Humidify the air.

Another reason lips get chapped in the winter is because we're constantly running our heaters inside. Furnaces tend to remove most of the moisture from the air during the heating process. While cold weather isn't good for your lips, dry air is even worse. Get a humidifier and run it at night while you sleep; your skin will thank you.

Tip 8. Try to avoid certain foods.

These certain foods include: spicy foods, citric fruit, coffee and soda. These foods can burn and irritate the lips, which often makes chapped lips worse. If your lips are feeling chapped, avoid these foods and give them a chance to heal.

Tip 9. Apply Beneficial oils.

These beneficial oils include Castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil and flax seed oil. To make your lips feel like new, apply them gently on your lips, and I specifically highlight gently or the lips that are sore might become more irritated.

Tip 10. Apply honey.

Instead of oils, you might want to try rubbing honey on your lips. It has a similar effect, and it will also help make your lips look healthy again. Just be careful not to lick the honey off of your lips! We know it tastes great, but like we said earlier, licking your lips is not allowed.

Tip 11. Aloe Vera.

You've probably used aloe Vera in the past when dealing with a nasty sunburn, but did you know that it can also help relieve chapped lips? It's true! The natural moisturiser will cool down your lips, fight dryness, and soothe away the pain.

Tip 12. Visit a dermatologist.

If you chapped lips problem, continues to persist, you might need to visit a dermatologist who might give you a special treatment.
